The Pet Overpopulation Dilemma

Pet overpopulation is the leading killer of cats and dogs in our country. Fifty thousand puppies and kittens are born every day here in the United States alone.  A male and a female cat can produce twelve cats per year.  In only 10 years if unchecked, just those 2 cats and their offspring are capable of reproducing 61 trillion cats.  There are over 80 million cats (plus 72 million dogs) alive in the US today. We challenge you to do the numbers.  Taxpayers spend up to $2 billion each year on services to collect, accommodate, destroy, and dispose of them. Spay and neuter is the best way to prevent pet overpopulation and protect healthy animals from being euthanized.

Our Goal

Our goal is to stem the tsunami of companion pet deaths that occur each year due to lack of knowledge.  Most of those pets are healthy and many of them have loving homes but are lost in the system.  Our strategy is to enlighten through our publications, seminars, website, videos and television programming.

In addition to these services, your contributions to the Pet Philanthropy Circle will be used for:

1) An animal welfare video that will be offered free to schools.
The seventeen year old actor, Lou Wegner, the Junior Ambassador
of the Pet Philanthropy Circle and founder of Kids Against Animal Cruelty (50,000 members strong) has agreed to “star” in this video.

2) “Pet Plans” that will be free on this website
for you to customize for your pet(s) in case you predecease
them or have personal emergencies. (Other sites charge for this service)

3) The provision of a “Pet Codicil” for your existing will that will be offered free on the this website. (Other sites charge for this service)

4) The advancement of our Pet Hero Awards to inspire animal welfare organizations to standards of excellence.

5) Providing financial assistance and grants to prequalified rescue
and shelter organizations.

If you have photos you may share them with the Pet Philanthropy Circle community via our Facebook page.
